FHSAA 4A District 12 XC Meet

Coral Spring Host / Tradewinds Park / 25 Oct / 0940

Preview

4A District 12 looks to bring some solid talent on both sides of the table. The Ft Lauderdale area is up and coming bringing teams together to make a run in the State Series . This Friday we will see we who will advance onto regionals.

Top 4 teams, top 15 Individuals, and just 3.1 miles to decide!

Boys Team Preview

The boys team preview from my eyes looks like an easy win for Douglas HS. With Douglas placing 4 runners in the top 10 they have a huge edge with front power. From what we have seen many times before, "every spot counts."

Coral Springs brings to the table all 5 runners in the top 15 but with Douglas’s number 5 runner coming in at 24th or thereabouts, the team battle will be  closer than you think. Only 5 points really separate the top 2 teams so the race for who will win Districts is sure to be a good one.

Along with Douglas and Coral Springs,  Coral Glades is seen 11 points behind bringing all 5 runners in the top 17.  The
fourth and final spot as I see it goes to Deerfield Beach.

Look for Douglas, Coral Springs, Coral Glades, and Deerfield Beach to punch their tickets to 4A Region 3.

Boys Individual Preview

In the recent polls released by FACA , Anthony Deleva of Coral Glades is currently ranked 12th in the state for 4A, making Deleva the huge favorite to win Districts. Coming in with a PR of 15:5 he has a lead of 49 seconds on 2nd place Anthony Ramcharran of Douglas.

The battle for district runner-up should turn out to be a good in-team battle between Ramcharran and his teammate, Alex Margetts, only separated by 9 seconds. The top 15 individuals in this race will punch their tickets to regionals next week.

Girls Team Preview

Very similar to the boys race , the girls side has the top 4 teams almost locked in. Douglas HS is ranked first with a 14 point lead followed by Coral Glades. It's then a 29 point gap to Monarch HS with Coral Springs not too far behind.  A 39 point gap from 4th to a 5th places the Deerfield Beach team with the next best shot of the remaining teams wanting to crack the top 4 spots and advance onto Regionals. Look for most of these top teams to pack run and take it easy to gear up towards Regionals next week.

Girls Individual Preview

The girls race should be a 3 girl showdown. Jade Fungquee of Monarch comes in with the best time of 20:40, followed by Caroline Atyeo of Douglas with a time of 20:53 and a close 3rd is Noeha Rose of Coral Glades with a time of 20:59.

The gap then increases by over a minute. All 3 girls if their teams do not make it past Districts or Regionals still have chances of bein top 15 in the region. Keep in mind Atyeo has beat Fungquee 3 out of the last 5 races they have gone head to head. Top 15 girls will advance into Regionals next week with a lot on the line.  This should make out to be a great district battle.
